Question to Movex

from tim K in AL - Thursday, July 29, 2010
Do we pack our boxes, furniture, etc. directly onto the truck or does it go into a "Pod-like" (sorry for the competitor's reference) container?

Movex Response

Lol! No worries. Pods is a great service, but a lot more expensive.

You actually load your furniture right onto the moving van. Each truck is equipped with furniture blankets, loading ramps, tiedown straps, and a dolly. Each customer is in a private compartment on one big truck.

Question to Movex

from Arbin T in VA - Sunday, July 18, 2010
We are moving from Oakton Virginia to Athens Ohio and we altogether have around seven suitcases which we are going to upload and download ourselves, We donot care what type of vehicle you provide us. The point is that we just need the cheapest one.

Movex Response

Arbin,

Our service is really designed for larger shipments involving furniture. I think that your best bet for shipping suitcases would be UPS ground freight.

Question to Movex

from Kat M in MN - Sunday, July 18, 2010
I am moving from Minnesota to Phoenix, AZ. I have a bed, dresser, end tables, chair, small antique desk and boxes...Basically, one bedroom and boxes...how does it work if my goods don't take up an entire truck?

Movex Response

Kat,

Each moving truck has moveable, plywood walls in it. Our driver puts those walls up for you so that each customer has a private compartment on the truck.

Question to Movex

from Amanda C in UT - Wednesday, July 07, 2010
I will be moving from SLC, UT to Nashville, TN in July. First, how long will it take to get there? Second, as I understand it, there are often more than one person's belongings in one truck trailer...how are the items of different people's moves separated and how am I sure that someone else won't unload my items and I loose them and vice versa?

Movex Response

It will take approximately 4 days of transit time with a delivery window at the end of that transit to allow for loading and unloading of other households from the truck. Your goods are seperated by moveable plywood walls so that your stuff does not get mixed up with anyone else's. A driver is always with a loaded trailer so that you don't have any monkey business going on.

Question to Movex

from Deb H in MI - Wednesday, July 07, 2010
looking to move an entire household from Troy, MI to Rapid City, SD in August, is this doable? Is it going to cost an arm and a leg?

Movex Response

Deb,

It is certainly do-able. It will not cost an arm and a leg.... just an arm. Seriously, it should not be too pricey because Rapid City is on the way to Colorado from the Midwest, a decent traffic lane.

Question to Movex

from michael L in NH - Saturday, June 19, 2010
can I put a trailer in your trailer? how big can it be?

Movex Response

You can if it will fit. Our trailers are 8ft wide and 9ft tall (and 48ft long). The loading ramps can hold up to 2500# so you will need to take that into consideration when planning your move. If it is too heavy, you can get a wrecker to come and pick it up and put it in the trailer (generally costs around $60 to do that).
