Is weight ever a factor in determining a price, or is it simply the linear foot of trailer used. I am thinking about renting an entire trailer, and just wondered how to determine how much the load will weigh when it is loaded?

We can legally allow up to 30,000# on an entire tractor-trailer. If you are loading household goods, it is virtually impossible to get that much weight onto a moving van. If I reserve 18ft in one of your trucks and end up needing more, how is that handled? Am I charged so much per foot over or am I out of luck?

You are correct in that if you go over on your space, we have a set price per foot that you are charged for the extra space. There are no "gotcha" charges. The only caveat is that extra space is not always available.

If I pay for a certain linear feet of space on the truck and then don't end up using all of it, can I get reimbursed?

We are very competitively priced because we order the space and plan for the entire truck in advance. Therefore, we cannot resell any leftover space to another customer. So we cannot refund unused space.

I live in California and have a metal snowblower that I want to ship to friends in Connecticut. Its not a commercial sized unit, but it is fairly heavy (apprx. 150 lbs). I would also ned help in packaging it up to avoid damage en route. Could Movex handle this? What would the apprx cost be? Thank you.

We generally handle larger orders and would not be cost effective for your one piece shipment. I would suggest UPS. They have a ground freight division that will give you a better option for shipping that snow blower.

I have items currently in Florida. I need to move them from FL to Long Island, NY. I am told the amount would fill an 18ft uhaul. Can anyone tell me how many boxes that would be? It's hard to know because I have not been able to visualise it personally. Thanks

If I were to reserve the 6 linear foot size and I started packing up the truck but needed more space afterall, is that allowed?

Yes and no. If the space is available (hasn't been committed to anyone else on the truck), yes, you can buy more space on loading day. You need to take into consideration that you may be the last customer on the truck and the truck will only show up with the space that you ordered.

im moving out of town and I will use a 26 foot truck. the mover company estimated 1600 cu. feet and an approx weight of 15000 lbs. Is the truck big enough?

Something does not jive with that quote. 1600 cubic feet should weigh no more than 10,000#. 1600 cubic feet of goods might fit into the largest uhaul, but probably won't. I would recommed 36ft of space on a Movex van at the very least.

How do I know if my stuff will fit in a 16' truck? We have 3 reg size and 2 love seat sz sofas, 1 king i queen and 1 day bed, 1 fridge, 3 desks, 3 coffee tables, 2 dining sz tables 12 table chairs, 4 recliners, 2 lg hutches, 2 lg bureaus,6 tall bookshelves, a barbecue and a lot of outdoor furniture plus 3 wardrobe sz boxes, and a lot of boxes-do you think that it will fit?
