Question to Movex

from Linda L in OR
I need to move from southern Oregon to southern Utah and would like to know if I could put two vehicles and a 2 bedroom house in a 53 ft van?

Response

Hi Linda,

Yes you can put two cars and a 2 bedroom home into a 53ft tractor trailer. You can assume that each car is going to use approximately 20 feet of space. That will give you 13 feet of space left over for your household goods shipment. It will be tight, but possible. I would suggest measuring out a 13ft space (by 8ft wide and 9ft tall) and "pre-load" as much of your stuff as possible to make sure that it will all fit.

Question to Movex

from Linda H in SC
We are planning on moving back to Ohio. My question is if I order a full size truck and actually don't need it would some money be given back to me.

Response

Hi Linda,

We would need to look at where you are moving from and to and when you are moving to help with that kind of question. We normally do not refund for space ordered that is not used because we get a bulk discount for ordering the entire truck.

Question to Movex

from John S in CT
My move is minimal going from CT to FL. Do you have a minimum weight or fee?

Response

Hi John,

We can move a shipment as small as 4ft of space on a moving truck. The trucks are 8.5ft wide and 9ft tall inside with the 4ft representing the depth of the moving van.

Question to Movex

from Michelle P in TX
I plan to move 2 10x10 storage of merchandise and 1 5x15 storage of merchandise from Hackensack, NJ to Dallas, TX. What size truck would you recommend?

Response

Hi Michelle,

We would recommend about 36ft of space on a moving truck. Our trucks are 8.5ft wide and 9ft tall. That should give you a comparable space in which to load.

Question to Movex

from Patricia P in MN
I am moving from Eagan,MN to Hart,MI with about 3 Bedrooms of furniture or less, boxes and 1 sofa, I loveseat, a 3x4 table and 4 chairs, and a 7x4x12 shelf. What kind of estimate would this be?

Response

Hi Patricia,

I would recommend about 18ft of space on one of the moving trucks. You want to consider that everything will not stack squarely, so you should order a little more space than you think you will need so that you have room to work when packing and loading your moving truck.

Question to Movex

from Nikki G in CO
Do you ever have extra room on moving trucks that can be rented for smaller items ie: a single sofa or patio set? And how much do you charge for that? Trying to get a few pieces of furniture from NY to CO.

Response

Hi Nikki,

We have space on moving trucks that can handle shipments as small as 4x8ft. If you have some flexibility, you should indicate that when getting a quote and we can piggyback you onto another move and save you a lot of money!

Question to Movex

from Joyce K in CA
I have a couple of rooms of furniture that I want to ship from CA to GA: along with a bath tub and a large light light fixture. How much space would I need on the moving van. Is this feasible?

Response

Hi Joyce,

We can certainly help you with this. We recommend averaging 4 feet per room when you are calculating space, so we would suggest about 10ft on the moving truck for the move that you have described.

Question to Movex

from Bobby K in FL
I need to rent space on a moving van for just a couple of rooms of stuff. I don't need the whole truck. Do you guys handle small moves?

Response

Hi Bobby, we certainly provide moving truck rental for smaller shipments. Each truck is broken down into smaller compartments by bulkhead walls. We can get a space on the moving truck as small as 4ft or as large as the entire truck. If you call us at 800-876-6839, one of our relocation specialists will help you pick the size that is right for you.
